๐ Is An Mx5 A Good First Car
The 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata boasts excellent driving dynamics, quite good efficiency and, perhaps most importantly, a level of feedback and "feel" that is lacking in many modern sports cars.
Your first car shouldn't be your dream car. Keep in mind that new drivers pay more for insurance. Also keep in mind that insurance for sporty cars is more than regular dinner rolls. The MX5 is a great car but it's not practical. Life happens and you need a car that can take passengers and some cargo.
The first reason is cars like the Miata are heinously impractical. My ownership history includes a 2013 Volkswagen GTI, a 2006 Audi S4 and, most recently, a 2019 Honda Civic Type R.
The MX-5 is among the most recognisable sports cars on the planet, inspired by one of the best, the Lotus Elan of the 1960s. Back in 1989, Mazda sought to replicate the impeccable steering feel
ND2. Itโs a common request for Mazda: More power for the Miata, please. Itโs one we have been hearing for nearly 30 years and, has tradition has shown, Mazda replies partway through each model generation. Well, itโs time for the ND -chassis MX -5 to get its bump. For the 2019 model year, horsepower goes from 155 to 181, a 17-percent
The 2.4-litre/193bhp 5-cylinder and automatic gearbox are quite good; as reliable as the MX-5 but slighly bigger. ###Volvo V70 2.4 Classic, 2000/W, ยฃ1,298. This estate is the last-of-line Classic spec in a good colour, and the 2.4-litre/193bhp 5-cylinder is decent, although not that sporting. Insurance is group 27 for this estate car.
In both the first and second generations of Mazda MX5, the engines are strong and reliable. The original Mk1 cars come with either a 114hp 1.6-litre unit or a more powerful 1.8, putting out 128hp. In 1995 it was upgraded to a 133hp unit.
Considering an R/T in "good condition" is twice 14k, I would say you won't be able to afford a 50k used Hellcat, plus sales tax, plus fees, plus insurance as a new driver (I'm a new driver and it costs me >$2000/yr for a hybrid). I love dodges with a passion but it's not a good 'first car' because it's expensive to keep it on the road.
